As many of you know by now, I suffer from seasonal asthma, bronchitis, and other respiratory challenges during the Spring and Summer months. I love taking one two teaspoons of of black seed oil daily to help boost my immune system and clear chest congestion during allergy season. Black seed oil (also known as black cumin seed oil) is derived from the Nigella Sativa, a plant that is native to Asia. Some of its benefits are:

  • Anti-bacterial
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Anti-fungal
  • Anti-oxidant
  • Increases immune function
  • Suppresses cough
  • Firms skin
  • Increases hair growth
  • Helps to normalize high blood pressure

I prefer Amazing Herbs premium black seed oil because it is non-gmo, naturally gluten-free, preservative-free, and cold pressed. When purchasing oils, it is important to always choose cold pressed oils. Unlike commercial processes, cold pressed oils maintain their nutritional value and flavor. Because black seed oil does not have the most pleasant taste in the world, I always purchase the bottle with the dropper so as little oil as possible touches my tongue. (Yes, it’s that serious.) I picked this oil up at my local Yes! Organic Market. However, you could probably find this online at Vitacost or Amazon. Have you ever tried black seed oil? Let me know if you noticed a difference.
