If you live in Washington, DC then you know that in comparison to others big cities, there are not a wide variety of plant-based restaurants. When I heard that HipCityVeg opened a location in the District, I had to stop by.
First, let me say that I was greeted by THEE friendliest staff members that I have EVER met in this city. Jazmyn was so delightful. I was borderline hangry when I arrived and her smile was contagious. Rodney was equally as pleasant and shared some of his favorites on the menu.
HipCityVeg’s menu is 100% plant-based and the soy is 100% organic and GMO-free. For my entree, I ordered the gluten-free Arugula Taco Salad (black beans, organic grilled corn, tortillas, pico de gallo, avocado, & cilantro dressing) with a side of sweet potato fries with siracha aioli. I also ordered the Kale Lemonade which was sweet without being too sweet.
Don’t be fooled, this is NOT another salad place. HipCityVeg sells salads, burgers, sandwiches, “chick’n”, smoothies, juices, teas, shakes and more.

They also have a really great “Banana Whip”. Frozen bananas blended to the texture of soft-serve ice cream. I added the cookie crumble topping to mine.
HipCityVeg DC is conveniently tucked away in Gallery Place. You may have already walked past it and didn’t know it!
