On Monday, May 8, 2017, I returned to WJLA, Good Morning Washington for #MeatlessMonday to discuss how edible flowers can be easily incorporated into plant-based dishes.
I featured my flowering fruit salad, fig bites, a fruit tart and coconut wraps. I got super creative with this one and even made a rosewater, coconut whipped cream for the fruit tart.
I emphasized that while edible flowers are a fun way to brighten up your dishes, you should always special order them or grab them from a market like Whole Foods that can help you select the flowers that are safe to eat.
Our discussion got a little personal when I disclosed that I transitioned to a plant-based diet to help manage my endocrine disorder.

After my segment I was able to chat with Ian K. Smith, M.D. (best known for his appearances on VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club series) about his new book, “Blast the Sugar Out.” Things came full circle during our meeting as I completed my Master of Public Health Practicum at the President’s Council on Fitness Sports and Nutrition while Dr. Ian was a council member.
